Our Freistadt Weiss.
About 170 years ago the Freistadt community was settled. Centered around its Lutheran church, families like Joachim Gatsch would build the log homes and construct the barn that still stands at Old Germantown. They certainly would not miss the services at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Strong traditions remain in this area and I was honored to be a guest speaker recently at Pommerscher Verein Freistadt, which serves as the area historical society. We talked about two of my favorite subjects: Beer and food!
Our brewing team is proud to serve this traditional German wheat beer which is smaller in alcohol (4.5%) and big in yeast flavors, like banana and cloves.
Many of the men who built our barn would have enjoyed this beer after a long summer day of farm work. I recommend it with our special weisswurst.
